04.02.2016 | Meeting of the Minister with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

On February 4 2016, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov has received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Al-Ketbi on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission in Tajikistan.

The state of bilateral relations and prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian fields have been discussed during the meeting.

It was noted that successful implementation of joint projects has made significant contribution to the strengthening of relations of friendship and partnership between the two countries.

Aslov S. thanked Ambassador Al-Ketbi for fruitful diplomatic mission for the benefit of development and deepening multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates.

 

 

 
05.02.2016 | Meeting of the President with UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) Shamshad Akhtar

Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon received the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.

The socio-economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN were discussed during the meeting.

"Tajikistan is actively and consistently continuing the fruitful cooperation with all relevant United Nations agencies, especially the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific", - said the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during the meeting.

Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon appreciated ESCAP’s support for implementation of a number of socio - economic development projects in Tajikistan.

A constructive conversation took place on the summing up the Dushanbe Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life" 2005-2015, and another initiative of Tajikistan to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, as well as the 10th United Nations Special Programme for the Central Asia economies Council meeting in Dushanbe, finding the ways to solve problems of Central Asian countries and landlocked states.

The parties stressed the importance of modernization of roads and railways, the development of the agricultural sector and rural areas, the economy and trade, investment, job creation, the construction of transmission lines, gas pipelines, the implementation of regional hydropower projects, including CASA-1000 with use of rich water resources of Tajikistan for further socio-economic development of Central and South Asia.

The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.

24.10.2015 | Beginning of the official visit of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Tajikistan

 

 

The first visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Tajikistan, who has arrived today on an official visit to Dushanbe, began with the official welcoming ceremony in front of Qasri Millat (Palace of the Nation).

For welcoming the distinguished guest at the square in front of Palace of Nation formed a guard of honor and a brass band.

Distinguished guest - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was greeted by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who invited him to the honorary tribune.

The official welcoming ceremony has begun from report of Honor Guard’s commander, the performance of National Anthems of the two countries and then continued by a joint passageway of the Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe before the guard of honor, a tribute of the high-ranking guest to the National Flag of Tajikistan, greeting to the officers and soldiers of the Honour Guard, and the introduction of the official delegations of the two countries as well as the diplomatic corps accredited in Tajikistan.

The official meeting’s ceremony ended with the passage of the Guard of Honour before the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister Abe.

The issues related to the development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed at the first meeting of Emomali Rahmon and Shinzo Abe in the narrow format.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon once again congratulated Abe on the occasion of re-election as the Prime Minister of Japan, and said:

"For Tajikistan, since the early days of its state independence, the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with Japan has been and remains one of the priorities of foreign policy."

 "We consider your country as an important partner, and this is our choice that withstood the test of time."

They expressed confidence that the first visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to Tajikistan will contribute to the expansion of relations between the two countries, strengthening the legal framework of cooperation.

Shinzo Abe, in his turn, pointed to the crucial role of Tajikistan in Central Asia, and its long border with Afghanistan, confirmed Japan's interest in expanding relations with our republic.

Sh. Abe also said: "I'd like to raise the level of our relations in all fields to a higher level."

 
01.10.2015 | Meeting with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

On October 1, 2015 in New York on the sidelines of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly Tajikistan the Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov met with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Amin Madani.

The sides have exchanged views on the role of the Organization in resolving issues and problems in the Islamic world and contribution of Tajikistan to these processes.

 

 

 

 
29.09.2015 | Meeting with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

On September 28, 2015 in New York on the sidelines of the UN Summit on Sustainable Development Sirodjidin Aslov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan met with Peter Maurer, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the constructive and efficient cooperation between Tajikistan and ICRC. Minister Aslov commended the ICRC for support in capacity building of the relevant governmental bodies of Tajikistan in addressing emergencies, particularly during natural disasters.

During the meeting there was also discussed the process of implementation of ICRC projects and programs in Tajikistan.

 

 
29.09.2015 | Meeting with Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah

Today, on 28 September 2015, at the UN Headquarters in New York City, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met the Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

“I hope that our and the entire world community’s joint efforts will facilitate the ensuring of stability, peace and prosperity of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan”- said the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the conversation.

The sides highly commended the current level of relations between the two countries and reviewed the issues of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, including in the spheres of politics, security, economic, social domain, energy, transport, education.

Much attention was focused on the implementation of regional projects for the construction of railway Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan, preparation of basis for construction of railway China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran and CASA-1000 power transmission line from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The meeting parties have also had a constructive dialogue concerning the security issues, in particular in ensuring peace and stability in the border areas between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and the joint fight against the elements of terrorism, extremism, and illegal drug trafficking.

 

 
25.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the Executive Director of the UN’s Counter-Terrorism Committee

On 25 September 2015 in the UN Headquarters Mr. Sirodjidin Aslov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has met with Mr. Jean-Paul Laborde, the Executive Director of the UN’s Counter-Terrorism Committee.

During the meeting, the two parties have discussed the issues of cooperation of Tajikistan with relevant international organizations, particularly with the United Nations institutions on fight against terrorism, implementation by the country of commitments within the framework of the universal anti-terrorist conventions, as well as the prospects of joint actions in this direction.

The sides have also shared views on the current developments in the region and the ways of strengthening cooperation for better and effective response to emerging threats to regional peace and security.    

 
25.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden

On 25 September 2015 in the UN Headquarters H.E. Mr. Sirodjidin Aslov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has met with H.E. Ms. Margot Wallström, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

During the meeting, the ministers have exchanged views on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially on implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), in particular water-related SDGs.

In this regard, Minister Aslov has called upon the Swedish Government to support the initiative of Tajikistan on promotion of a new International Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development”.

 

 

 
25.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific

On 25 September 2015 in the UN Headquarters Mr. Sirodjidin Aslov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has met with Ms. Shamshad Akhtar, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

During the meeting, there have been discussed the issues related with participation of Tajikistan in the upcoming regional events organized by the ESCAP and preparations for the meeting of the Governing Council of the United NationsSpecial Programme for the Economies of Central Asia(SPECA)to be held in November 2015 in Dushanbe.

Ms. Akhtar has invited the delegation of Tajikistan to participate in the side-event on the sustainable development goals (SDG) to be organized jointly by ESCAP, ADB and UNDP on 29 September 2015 on the sidelines of the United Nations SDG Summit. 

 

 
17.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia

On September 17, 2015 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov has met with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.

During the meeting the following issues have been discussed: bilateral cooperation between the EU and Tajikistan, security, regional, water-energy and other international issues of mutual interest.

With regard to recent events, Mr.Burian reiterated again EU supports for the Tajikistan Government’s efforts to ensure the rule of law and order prevails in the country, as well as the readiness of the EU to remain a reliable partner and strong supporter of Tajikistan on the path towards stability, democratic reforms and prosperity.

The Head of EU Delegation to Tajikistan, Ambassador Hidajet Biscevic also attended at the meeting.

 

 
05.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the Chairman of the Executive Government of National Unity of Afghanistan

On September 4, 2015 in Kabul, within the framework of the Sixth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VI) there has been held a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov and the Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

During the meeting special attention was paid to the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in various fields, including in ensuring border security, enhancement of cross-border trade, economic and social development of the northern areas of Afghanistan, as well as realization of other trade, investment and cultural programs and projects.

During the meeting the parties have also discussed other issues of mutual interest.

 
05.09.2015 | Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the President of Afghanistan

On September 4, 2015 in Kabul, within the framework of the Sixth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VI) there has been held a bilateral meeting of Sirodjidin Aslov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

During the meeting the parties has discussed the topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan and the ways of enhancement of cooperation in such areas as implementation of projects on construction of railways and automobile roads, training of Afghan specialists in educational institutions of Tajikistan, as well as strengthening of cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries on fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

The parties has also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including implementation of the outcomes of the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-V) held in Dushanbe in 2012.

 
20.08.2015 | Beginning of official visit of the President of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan
Official visit of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Turkmenistan began this morning with a welcoming ceremony at the Ashgabat Independence Square.

To welcom the distinguished guest - the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, this attractive square was decorated with the National Flags of the two countries, guard of honor and the orchestra of wind instruments.

Distinguished guest - President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was met by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov who invited him to the honorary tribune.

Afterwards, official welcoming ceremony continued with a report of the commander of the guard of honor, the performance of National Anthems of the two countries, the passage of the two presidents before the honor guard, a tribute of the high-ranking guest to the National Flag of the host country, greeting to the officers and soldiers of the Honour Guard, and the introduction of the official delegations of the two countries as well as the diplomatic corps accredited in Ashgabat and ended with the passage of the Guard of Honour before the two Heads of state.

The issues related to the development of friendly relations and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed at the first meeting of Emomali Rahmon and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the narrow format.

President of Turkmenistan emphasized that "we consider your official visit to our country as important, as Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have similar views on many regional and global issues, particularly in the defense of peace, tranquility and stability". Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, energy, transport, industries, scientific and cultural domains, and stressed that it serves mutual interests.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, pointing to the importance of the proximity of the positions of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on many international issues, including countering terrorism, extremism and other global threats, stressed that such proximity is a good basis for expansion of political, trade-economic, investment and cultural ties.

They also expressed confidence that today's meetings and negotiations will actively promote the development of relations between the two friendly countries.

It is expected that as a result of meetings and negotiations at the highest level will be signed 5 new documents on cooperation in the fields of health, television and radio, and library.

 
27.08.2015 | Meeting of the President with the Commander of U.S. Central Command, General Lloyd Austin III

Today, President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Commander of the Central Command of the United States of America, General Lloyd Austin III.

At the meeting the sides discussed issues of multifaceted cooperation of Tajikistan and the United States, primarily in the fields of defense and regional security.

President Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the conversation, in particular, said "today, bilateral interstate agenda of Tajikistan and the United States covers a variety of issues, however, among them a special place is occupied by issues relating to peace and stability in our region, because they are closely connected with the situation in Afghanistan."

Lloyd Austin III highly appreciated the contribution of Tajikistan to ensuring peace and stability in the Central Asian region and to the promotion of international peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan, on behalf of the American leadership expressed his gratitude to the Head of Tajikistan and the people of the country.

It was stressed that Tajikistan with its key position in the region and an extended line of the border with Afghanistan is at the front position of the fight against the spread of terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other serious threats.

The commander of the Central Command of the United States reiterated America's strong position with respect to consistent support of Tajikistan's efforts to protect and promote social and political stability, economic development and expansion of fruitful regional cooperation in Central Asia.

At the meeting were also held talks on the current situation and prospects of its development in the hot spots of the Middle East, taking of joint preventive actions against modern threats and challenges, as well as other relevant issues.
